Get the foxfire books if you can find them. Great info on survival. An Boy scout MANUAL FROM THE 60S OR 70S HAS ALOT OF GOOD KNOWLEDGE.

It looks to me like a fancy battery. I bought a a large lithium battery. A regulator for charging from the panels. An inverter for running my tools, charging laptops etc, from the battery.. If any one of these components dies, I simply replace the single component. Not the whole thing. I can add more batteries or change them if i need too. Was cheep n easy. All from my local battery solar store. What am I not seeing here.

I’ve been living offgrid for 8 years. I’ve been designing and installing offgrid solar PV systems for 15 and you can’t beat a full system. If you need portability for camping etc these solar generators are awesome. I see people that are “peppers” and lots of prepping channels however promoting these and saying that’s what they have for their backup power for when the SHTF. That’s not the best solution for sure. A permanently installed offgrid system with separate components (inverter, charge controller, separate batteries etc) is by far better. Custom sized and built for the customers needs and lifestyle. If one component fails you can easily replace it. Yes it’s more expensive but I know a fellow that paid close to $9000 for a Bluetti with extra battery pack and had 600W of solar or something. We just installed a full system for him and it rocks. The solar generator system he had wasn’t “cutting the mustard”.

I keep realizing how many people don't even look at anything happening outside of the US. Unsettling issues aren't only happening here.

Hey brothers and sisters, my preps are moving along good. Not perfect, in any sense, due to costs skyrocketing, but we are well beyond where we were a year ago. And we are learning to cycle our preps to keep things fresh. I've been writing a book (a planning book) with the intent to align my thoughts and plans with reality. I've also purchased other books (physical actual books, not digital) to add to my knowledge. Consider writing your plans in a book. Then print it out. Chris has so much insight in his many videos for your planning.

A lot of preppers on UA-cam debate on which generators, solar panels, batteries, etc are the best choice for a grid down situation. They also frequently talk about EMP's, either from a nuclear blast high in the atmosphere or from a mass ejection from the sun and whether it will wipe out all electronics along with the electric grid. Why not do a few videos on non-electric off grid solutions - and not just ones that feature camp stoves for cooking or wood stoves for heating? How about things for laundry like the Lehman's Own Hand Wash Laundry device, or different types of hand pumps that can be added to your well like the Waterbuck hand powered well pump? Everyone should build resiliency into their homestead, but one level of preparedness should be totally non-electric just in case your backup generator and solar PV system fails.

I originally subscribed because of generator opinions, and stayed because City Prepping is much more level headed than other similar people.

So pretty much anyone with a you tube channel that talks about prepping just got a free generator. Or solar channel.

My husband too i said we have one grown son i said you have 2 brothers one sister and boy friend and a sister in law they all will need to eat right they dont think a head i have from age 16 now 67 , apple trees 1 year wow even dwarf trees 5 years or more😢

I would say that's one of the reasons why I moved out of California too many rules and regulations that don't allow you to live and establish your property. I hope that you bought something out of California there is a lot of land in Northeast Arizona out of the Heat

I'm not saying global warming is not happening but it's not caused by the human element. It's caused by the elliptical orbit of the Earth around the Sun. We've had droughts in the United States called the Dust Bowl don't remember the years but it happened and eventually we came out of it. So if the Earth is warming up we have to start thinking about farming in the higher latitudes

Kris - how does the DP3 compare to the DPU? I already own the DPU with the Smart Panel 2. So far, I can see that the DP3 can also hook up to the Smart Panel 2 but can't I just purchase additional batteries for the Ultra? Are the specs better for the DP3?

There's one thing your not getting. WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GET THE FLOUR FROM?????? Look outside your current square. No shops no stocks. Yet you could grow corn and grind it down yourselves and use that. But there is NO prepping in a city. WHY?? your dependant on suppliers. THERE WONT BE ANY. You should be prepping to get OUT OF THE CITIES.
